Yo! Just about to do my first oil change post engine break in after a rebuild and I had a question about oil capacity because I am finding some conflicting information online.

    Balance shaft delete.
    Spin on oil filter conversion.

So WHAT is the oil capacity on this car with those two mods? Or would I be best off just draining it all out, adding four-ish, then slowly adding more and more until I'm halfway between min/max on the dip stick?

    Thanks for your thoughts!

It's six with spin on and I believe balance shaft is another quart.

    5.5 to 6 qt.
7 quarts with Balance Shaft removed'

5.6qt is what I personally use (gen 2 so spin on and NO balance shaft delete)

6 quarts gen 2 per manual

Unless you change your oil on an incline you should put in the amount specified in the manual for an oil change. They have accounted for the amount left behind in a normal oil change. Using the dipstick assumes the monkey on the assembly line installed it correctly.

I'm 2010 which I know has a different engine part code than all other years. What year is yours and what does the owners manual say?

Mine or OP? I have a 2013 manual says 6.0 US qt with filter, 5.6 without filter. I let mine drip for 20min level, always do filter and if I go over 5.6qt I find myself well over the fill line.

Either way balance shaft delete is certainly an extra qt

edit: I assume OP has a gen1 based on display pic and talking about spin on conversion

5.6 and it comes up to the fill line, 5.7 and ok hitting the M on the MAX after the line. 6 would get me over the A.

While it may be low as per the manual it is certainly not low on the dipstick. Verified against the manual that I'm measuring to the correct place. Dipstick tube hasn't been removed since it was factor mounted.
I drain excessively because of this, I've done this on a hoist and jack stands with the same result. No way my cars actually low.

So you are willing to assume that somehow on only your car the oil pan was made incorrectly but not consider the possibility that the dipstick installing the dipstick didn't do it right?

I'll admit to being a dipstick. what am I missing unless there's a 0.5qt fuckup in the oil pan? Everything appears seated correctly. I can only assume my dipstick itself is appropriate length and not too long. first oil changes were at the dealership when I bought the car new and it's oil level measured the same on delivery after engine off for 5 min (appropriate procedure as per owners manual)
I know the 5.5 to 6 qt. Fill with oil filter without balance shaft deleted recommendation was from the old forum specially ms6 fluid notes.

My guess would be that the dipstick tube is inserted like 1/8 inch too far and thus reads full at not full.

Think about it this way the dipstick is to check oil levels. If you are following the shop manual procedure then just put in the amount of oil it calls for

What is the area of the oil pan? 160 square inches? 0.4 quartsis 23 cubic inches. Over 160 square inches that's a difference in oil fil level of less than 1/8 inch. I don't think a dipstick is that accurate.
