Sorry if im posting this in the wrong thread im new. So I changed my oil about 1500 miles ago and have been reading up that people dont acually put 6 quarts of oil (per owners manual) in when they do a change but about 5.5 quarts or around. So my delema is that ive put 6 quarts of oil in and the dipstick reads at the X on max after 1500 miles on this oil change. did i cause any damage to the motor? I am going to drain about a half a quart, or should i just change it? Thanks.

If you did a complete drains and filter change it takes 6 quarts. The dipstick is not as precise as people like to think

So I ended up changing the oil and noticed that my filter was kinda loose and showed oil residue. Haven’t lost an ounce in 500 miles.

I owned my speed for 6 years. For 6 years straight I overfilled it by 1 quart every single time. Never had a single issue in all that time.

    you’ll be absolutely fine.

it’s common practice on some platforms to overfill by approx. 1 quart.

On the new Corvette Mid Engine setups the transmission requires 1 extra quart if it's driven on the track. But that extra quart doesn't need to be removed after track use. So why doesn't Chevrolet just fill it with the extra quart from the factory?

Plus the fill plug is located on top of the transmission and is very similar to a case bolt which if loosened will require the transmission to be replaced. It is not covered under warranty if that occurs.

Because it's probably only needed for extremely hard cornering and if your Chevy and sell 20-30 thousand cars a year you can save 50 k by leaving a quart of oil out of them all

Especially when you know that most of them will spend their entire lives going 5 under in the left lane and sitting in garages for extended periods of time

    Also #fuckgm

You forgot that Vette owners have the generic white t shirt, denim shorts, new balance shoes and the obligatory Heartbeat and or Chevrolet hat
