    Hello mates

Hope everyone is safe and well. I am re-installing the reverse light and neutral position switches to my gearbox, when I removed the two switches there was some sort of green sillicon or thread locker on both threads of the switches, the service manual says install both switches with new packing, Strangely enough, I really did not understand what they meant, should I just use the same red silicon RTV that is used to seal the gearbox clutch housing and transaxle housing together with both switches so they do not leak?

    Cheers

I know just using the color of silicon sealant is misleading. Different manufacturers have different specs, there is no standard /color equation. High temp silicone usually reddish has very poor gas or certain oils by at least one manufacturer. I would do some searching first. If just want to seal, look for bolt or screw sealants that list the oil in question on the assembly you are going to seal. In my opinion a general engine oil sealant might be more appropriate.
