Second owner factory serviced

So, I recently acquired a single owner Houston kept car. I had it for all of 1200 miles before it spun a rod bearing because the shop, I had changed the oil only put in 4.5 quarts of 5w20. They bought me a remanufactured motor and are covering the install at my local dealership. I am parts shopping now, going to run versa tune once the engine is broke in. I am replacing all the hoses I can now, and I am upgrading at least the stock manifold if not the turbo. I'll be building an o ringed forged block out of the original block.

Over or under depends on the manifold, in my opinion. St is pretty much required to go under. I'm over with my corksport manifold.

Based on the poll you made I presume you're asking about under mount or top Mount fmic kits? Go top under is a pita from a maintenance and troubleshooting perspective. There's a few threads on this topic around here if you look

 

I am glad too. I have been looking around the forum about certain things, I had not seen a lot of under kits and figured it had something to do with that, I had yet to find that area. Feels like Alexandria before the burning with all the information here. I am not afraid of maintenance or troubleshooting if there are actual gains to be made aesthetically. I know the boost difference would be negligible but some of yall have tucked your bays most excellently, and if I am pouring resources into how it runs and drives, I like the looks to match. I really liked the old cork sport ram air kit, but from what I understand they hamstringed themselves by not increasing the filter size. Though one can respect the simplicity and functionality of the over, its hard to make it look like it belongs.

 

That ram air intake didn't work out well, liked the idea. With the turbo and a good intercooler a SRI is all you need it's not a NA engine after all.

Heck even with a tmic people have crack 500whp on the ms3, thing with fmic is if you don't replace your ducting in the bumper when you put it in our BATs can be higher than they should be and you can see high coolant temps, also not under having an ubdertray has a surprising amount of negative impact on engine temps

 

I think I am going to keep this new engine mild for now. CS TB Exhaust, Intake, Radiator, new hoses, and once the engine is broken in a FMIC. I am currently looking for another MS6 to do as a project with my oldest.
