    Hey guys,
I’ll start by saying I’m located in CA so I have to be able to pass a smog check so a downpipe would be out of the question. With that out of the way, I’m wondering if anyone has run the Ultimate Racing High-Flow Secondary Cat and has anything to say about whether or not it was worth the $285.

I’m doing this with the intent of making just a bit more hp while keeping it CARB legal where I can either keep it on the car or easily swap it out before a smog check (other mods include Corksport SRI + TIP, Corksport HPFP internals, and Corksport TMIC).

The secondary cat is unmonitored so removing it will not trigger a cel. You can therefore get an uncatted test pipe and will pass the scan but not necessarily the visual. If swapping it every two years is too much work you can just use a long tool to break up the material in the cat and remove it. No restriction no cel and no visual indication

Before you buy anything make sure to get under the car and look since it's such an easy mod I wouldn't be surprised if it was done already

Funny enough if you got a catted downpipe you would be less likely to fail visual since you can barely see the damn thing

Only reason I can’t go catted downpipe is because I can’t run it without a tune. Do you know what kind of HP gain you can expect from running a high flow secondary cat?

Do not waste money on replacing the second cat with a high flow cat. You will get like 3 HP. Do one of the two things I recommended above

Why don't you want to tune? Do they check for that now too?

To my knowledge, they can check if your ECU has been reflashed. If it’s not a CARB legal COBB OTS tune (which we know is garbage) then you won’t pass smog… I would love to be wrong haha so someone can correct me but that’s my understanding. So I’m stuck with using parts that can run on a stock tune or parts that need a tune but are easy to swap every 2 years for a smog check.

OP I've got an Ultimate racing resonated version mid pipe just sitting in my attic I've been meaning to sell.

It probably has around 10,000 miles on and absolutely nothing wrong with it. I'd be willing to sell it for a lot less than it's listed new.

If you are interested you'll have to become a metal member and I can put it up in the classifieds section.

I'm thinking $125 plus shipping, I can make a post in the classifieds section.

If you want to send me a message with your zip code I can figure out shipping and give you a total.
