Hello. I hope everyone is doing well. I just put an oil catch can in my car. While I had the intercooler and intake off, I decided to inspect the turbo. I was very on the fence about replacing the cartridge in it.
I got the car put back together and the oil return line got left loose by accident. There was white smoke coming from behind the engine where the turbo is. After cleaning up my massive oil spill and tightening the return line. I topped off the oil and started it again.
It took a little while longer to smoke this time and I was sure to clean the bottom of the car well. But there is still smoke. The turbo was out of the car for a week or 2. Am I missing something? Did the turbo I decided not to rebuild just go out after I put it back in the car. Do turbos just do this when putting it back in and starting it for the first time? Do I need to fill it with oil like a new oil pump would need? I can hear what sounds like the bearings spinning in the turbo. It’s a new sound that I have never heard before. No codes or anything. It does have a Cobb intake and HPFP internals as well as a catback exhaust and Cobb AP, and a new oil catch can from corksport as well.

Do you have an Accesport? or an oil pressure gauge? cause a turbosmart oil pressure regulator could be you fix
