    Hello Guys!

I'm new to the forums and a new mazdaspeed 3 enthusiast. I hope this post is in the right section.

I haven't picked up a speed 3 yet but im looking to grab one by end of summer, beginning of fall.

In the mean time ive been working a project, i used to do custom headlights on the side and ive always waned to do a custom job on Speed 3 tech package headlights. So right now i have opened a set of speed 3 technology package lights and have modded the stock projector with sharpen the cut off, as well laser etched a custom design and did a passive demon eye mod, as well as led demon eyes. To my surprise i discovered behind the triangle section of the lights cover the DRL section, there might be space to add a second projector. I shall post pics for your viewing and progress here shortly.

Opened the light and discovered some space there for possibly a second projector.

So the above photo shows the projector cut off stock and unmodified. as you can see its a bit blurry with not much color, In the back of the projector, the reflector bowl where the hid light reflects, is dull and burned.

After opening the projector and swapping the reflector bowl with a fresh one, and a bit more tuning, i was able to get a better cut off.

On to more pictures! So i opened the projector again and performed what is called the Passive Demon eye mod. basically you spray a specific portion of the inside of a projector with a color paint of your choosing, and in the day time at the right angle, it gives off the reflective property of that color through the lens!! i chose yellow!!

And i did a little bit more tweaking to the projector lens for a sharper cut off, still needs a bit more work.

Heres my lights on my old car i did, these took me a month to do, between working 6 days a week at my full time job lol but a buddy of mine helped out.

In reference to how the lights look unmodified:

MY phone crashed earlier in the year, or i would have posted more of my work.

This is the first time ive done mazda lights so im making my way around them, opening them was a total pain cause i really didnt know where all the hidden screws were but after i found them all opening was easy, so idk ill see. If these come out great, and my time frees up i might offer a limited round of services.

These are just rough drafts for now of how it should look.

At some point ill start on the driver side light and send updates, next step is to paint inside the H1 projectors yellow, mod the driver side projector, then aim and mount the H1 projectors to make sure they are aligned with the oem projector beam..

End goal is to run all four projectors as low beams, stay tuned!

i made some big progress last night. I added the Mini H1 projectors into the DRL section of my tech package headlights and mounted them.

Next step will be cutting the shrouds to fit over the projectors.

Hopefully the next update will be all demon eyes installed, chrome stripped and ready for paint. This is just a rough draft, ignore the imperfections, they will be repaired with quick steel, sanded smoothed, and prepped for paint as well.

Not usually one for headlight mods, but that's cool. Never seen the passive demon eye thing before.

Dont mind the cutting and ugliness, it had to be done to fit the halo that will sit behind this the projector shroud. JB quik and paint camo'd it a bit.

Alright Ladies and gents, i added the color chasing strips and partially put the lenses on to see how they look "closed". ill let the pics speak for themselves!

Wires in the back have been ran, just need to seal things up in the back, close headlights and swap headlight harnesses and hids on to these lights then i can install on the car, 99% done!

Final Update guys, got the lights on months ago, just been too busy to find the time to upload these.

I also did a Corksport front lip which you'll see in one of the pictures, Corksport BBK, SS brake lines, new rotors and pads and a ton of things you cant see. Scale coilovers with swift springs and ISC coilover covers, Moog front lower control arms, Moog inner and outer tie rods, Scale end links, Rear lower moog control arms, SPC upper camber arms, Whiteline front sway bar bushings, Corksport Rear sway bar with bushings, White line bumpsteer kit, with all that suspension work now i have an annoying front end clunk i didnt have before so now i gotta address that. Eric yarborough Oil return line since my stock one was leaking, valve cover gasket leak, Corksport Big bore TB, got an HTP 3.5 intake i havent installed yet etc etc

So yeah lots been done to the car, but the lights are on the car done, so enjoy the pics.

I dont have many demon eye pics, because the bluetooth controller keeps draining the battery so i disconnected it, will be wiring a separate switch in the spring to cut the power from the battery when the car is off.

Anywho enjoy the Photos and videos will be last.

Held up just fine, no leaks and it stayed outside all winter.

That's awesome man, I stated working on a set of halogen lights for my 10 a while back but it's nothing compared to what you've done. I blacked out the functional chrome with the black out chrome kit (so is setup functional) and painted the rest of the nonfunctional chrome gunmetal. Put a white halo on around the low beam, got the Morimoto XBT Bluetooth controller for a pair of RGB demon eyes and RGBW halos, and got a switchback LED strep to mount on the edge of the reflector. It's been sitting on my work bench untouched for 2+ years[emoji28]

What BT controller did you use that was draining the battery?

Did you use any of those one way condensation vent patches?

Here are some pics of how far I got. I wanted the switchback to go along the reflector but I was having trouble finding an adhesive that would stick to the silicone and the plastic, and it was really tight up against the lens. 20200703_121714.jpg 20200703_121640.jpg 20200703_121655.jpg 20200703_115201.jpg

Hey bud thats not a bad setup! Definitely simple and easy to do. I used to do custom headlight work on the side which is why i went all out here.

The nonfunctional chrome section i usually paint it that yellow metalcast chrome color so when using a bulb in the housing it gives off a bright yellow reflective color. Or sometimes ill put a projector in each of those unused housings like i did in mine as well.

I used the Moriomoto XBT demon eyes in all four projectors. The bluetooth controller needs constant power so you can power them even when the car is off. The issue i was having is it was always on and draining the battery. I found a solution, i bought a wireless relay that i connect the blue tooth controller to, then connect the relay to the battery. Which a wireless remote i can power and kill power to the relay, so i basically power off the blue tooth controller with the push of a button, then can use the demon eyes even when the car is off without draining the battery to death. The relay was like $25

You know, ive ordered them, and NEVER ever used them lol i do use Silica packets, so if moisture gets in, the packets absorb them. But if you do an excellent job sealing the light condensation usually doesnt get in.

For getting the strip to stick, they usually come with 3M double sided tape on the back, if not you can buy some and use that. Use a lignter or heat gun and apply it to the back of the strip and press and hold hard til the tape drys from being heated, it sticks amazingly. Also make sure you clean the area you are sticking the strip on properly.

And i feel you on the 2 years, builds sometimes take months to do depending on how busy i am
