What's up everyone! Just a scared noob here. I have an 06 speed 6 with 104k on it and I seem to be noticing a little more tapping than usual. I'm stationed in Cheyenne Wyoming and will definitely not be attempting to replace myself. Since the nearest Mazda dealer is an hour away when I have called to say I need a timing chain replacement they ask me which part of it then I get confused cuz im not a mechanic. Can I just ask to get the VVT actuator replaced? These guys seemed confused by what I am asking. At this point I just wanna get it done for peace of mind. Preciate the help and I put a video in here too in case anyone can tell if it's about to go.

This. Definitely time for the service as you're already aware, strange to me that the dealership don't know what's up with vvt service / timing chain. However hopefully that'll give them some area to look at and figure it out, you can also politely ask to describe it to a mechanic if they're free and hopefully they can give the service advisor some better direction after talking to you.

Sounds good I appreciate it fellas! Got an appt for the dealership an hour away to give her a look over and I’ll make sure to tell them those are common problems!
