No, not much of a truck guy and I have no interest in putting money in the Miata. I do kinda want a new bike though...

Most likely I’m going to take the wife’s 19’ Oddy as a daily and trade in the speed towards a Jeep for her. New bike will have to wait.

I would sell it and pass it to someone who has a passion for it. The car will mean more to that person as a new fun ride than you as someone who finds it more beater’ish. Appreciate the honesty towards it. I would just be done with it and you’ll be on to something else in no time.

Only my opinion which means little to most. Please do not buy a Jeep if you value resale, quality, and longevity. If not, have at it!

Go autocross or sign up for a hpde. Won’t have to worry about launching a fwd but you will smile. Unless you smile driving a Ranger.

Have you seen the people buying used speeds these days? It has a 1 in 20 chance of going to someone with any appreciation for it.

As far as dodge, yes I’m well aware of their shit build quality, had a 2009 Ram that still haunts me. But it’s not me, it’s my wife that wants a wrangler. Wrangler’s are overpriced as hell but at least they do hold value relatively well and tend to be more reliable than the average Fiat Chrysler products.

That’s the nice thing about being an adult. Can do whatever you want :)

I guess when you sell a car you typically have to be fine with the next person doing whatever they want as long as they give you the green you ask for. I ALWAYS end up being more emotionally attached to a car than a person should so I will probably never sell a car locally. But if you wanna say bye bye and get cash then you gotta just let’s go.

Honestly we have a odyssey as a third car and I need to commute in it at various times. Between that and trips where I would be driving it for extended periods I can’t wait to get back in my speed. The slow lumbering boat is just not something I could do every day. Commuting sucks enough as is why do I need to do it in a terrible car too. If the speed is worth nothing then it already is a beater use it as one. Change up the mods to make it more livable and just run it into the ground

I have back issues and a wife who hates going fast in any sense of the word. I daily a built car and wouldn't have it any other way.

Depends on the commute, for me it’s all interstate usually in at least moderate traffic. I’d choose the odyssey 10 times out of 10 for that. That said I have considered tossing a K04 and catted DP on and driving it to death. Could probably get a few more years out of it that way. In the Miata I take the long way around for twisties but the speed is too tired for that shit. My suspension groans like an old man taking a piss.

I’m assuming you have a short commute? If I did I would be much more into an idea like that.

Heavy traffic, stop and go, anywhere from 20-45 minutes depending on weather, accidents etc.

I meant miles, built engines aren’t known for soaking up miles.

I think it's about 12 miles each way, so no not bad in that regard. Jef built this one to rack up the mileage, part of why it has 4032 pistons.

Yeah I’m about 30 each way, plus driving to vendor shops as needed. Coupled with my wife and I are debating moving outside of city limits to a place that would put me closer to 45 each way.

Thus the speed isn’t exactly well suited to what I’m using it for.

Shiiit. I drive almost 1000 miles a week for work, retired the speed from daily driving in October 2016. But still try to drive it for work 2 days a week in the spring and summer. I still enjoy mine after putting 220k miles on it since ownership and 84k on the built motor.

Back in the day I had a car I wanted to sell. Thought it had run its course. I was a lot younger so I didn’t care about motor shit. But I put new rims on it and all of a sudden I cared a lot more. You never know what mod will kick that in for you.

Just put my rpf1s on last night. Totally changes the look of the car. And driving it to the alignment shop this morning a Shelby mustang tried to fuck with me. Not sure if the wheels made that happen (and honestly I am beneath him but made me lol) but I chose to think so and it completely validated the mod.

I don’t think I’ll fall away from this car for a hot minute. Just try some new shit.

I do think if it was my only vehicle I would put in a new suspension, and consider a new motor, probably fall in love with it again. The problem in my particular instance is it is fighting for my attention with a motorcycle, which is faster in a straight line than it will ever be, and a miata that handles better than it ever will.

There is one reason alone that I really truly fight with the idea of selling it. We all know cars and mods are dumb investments in the first place, and it needs probably 5-6k of work to be what it once was again. 5-6k into an asset to increase its value zero, and yet I am tempted. My kids are getting old enough to enjoy twisty roads now. They both love the Miata, but obviously they can't go with me at the same time and I would like to take them both down the tail of the dragon for weekend get aways from time to time. Just have to decide if I can justify that kind of cost for such a very specific occasion. My attitude changes on it daily I swear.
