Bose Amp Bypass

I've got an Eonon R51 headunit which I like a lot, however I'd like to amplify the door speakers with more power.

Given the above, I know I can safely get RCA inputs out of the headunit and run some normal RCA cables to an amplifier, however it's the speaker wiring that I am wondering about.

Is the easiest way to do this simply running RCA cables to a new amplifier, then cutting into the output cables of the Bose amp that run to the doors? I'm unsure if there's an easier way to do this, but this seems like a sound method.

It is a way to do it but the factory wiring might be undersized for what you want to do

 

Upping the power output to stock speakers rarely results in great sound quality and performance. Generally stock speakers are closely spec'd to the output of the stock system and either sound like trash or blow quickly when powered via higher output third party amplifier. If you are interested in upping your power output with an aftermarket amp, I would suggest you consider replacing the interior speakers as well. You don't have to spend a fortune - the Alpines I like go for $100 - $120 total for fronts and rears. Don't feel like you need a ton of power - 50 - 75watts RMS per channel is more than enough for these cars. That being said, the stock bose are more decent than most and would probably hold up for a while if you keep power beneath 50 watts rms...

 

Sorry I should have clarified that I’ve got a sound system already as well. I’ve upgraded the front door speakers to some DS18 6.5s. Just looking to see how best amp them.

 

I put in a small Alpine amplifier under the seat next to the Bose amplifier. I used RCAs from my Pioneer head unit and cut the speaker wires from the Bose and patched them over to the amp. I did leave the crappy Bose subwoofer connected. I was going to do more, but keep fighting with myself about whether I want to sell the Soeed.
