Bypass Valve for SMOG, drive cycle?

Hi there. I'm a bit of a noob, so I apologize in advance.

I have a 2012 MS3 and when I first bought it, the guy had put a BOV on it and I remember him saying he still had the OEM bypass valve if I ever wanted it, but I had never contacted him about getting it and that was years ago, with no phone # now anyway.

I'm in California, so smog can be annoying. I recently tried to do smog and failed visual just because of the BOV. I've passed smog before, so I guess the previous time, the place just overlooked it/didn't care. Regardless I guess you need an EO # for aftermarket parts which it doesnt have.
I've already ordered an OEM BPV, should come in today.

My question is, after installing the OEM BPV, is there a specific drive cycle I need complete in order for it to pass fine? I know some people say to drive like 100 miles, though other cars have specific things you need to do like idling, driving city & highway speeds, etc. I actually had my father go in for the smog while I was away for work and I think the dude just told him to drive for a while after replacing.

The only thing I found in the manual mentioning drive cycles says:
"A drive cycle consists of starting the engine (after four or more hours with the engine off) and driving the vehicle on city and highway roads."

If anyone can give me some info on this, I'd appreciate it!

You failed visual you don't need drive cycles for that. No cel should be good to go unless you disconnected the battery

 

oh wow really? So I could just go straight to smog after install?

 

Yup go right to smog after install, don't forget if you have a bov right now and want to install the OEM bpv you'll also need the recirculation hose for it, unless it's just chilling on the intake plugged and not cut short etc
