I'm definitely going to meter it out to confirm. Granted the manifold is going to have to come off again once the DM parts show up.

But that is in that region.

Good thing I have a few harnesses laying around. Hopefully I don't have to modify one.

I am also shocked the o2 wiring didn't cause more issues.

I have some chores to do today, so I don't know if I'll be able to get hands on the car to figure it out. We'll see.

 

Ran through all of these metered tests. Fuel injector harness has an open between FRPS Terminal B and PCM terminal 2R. Which then meant that FRPS Terminal B Is shorted to body ground.



Awesome, get to remove the intake manifold again for the second time this week.

Thanks for the help guys. Tested this injector harness and it checks out. I do still need to isolote that for sure and that its not the engine harness

This is the can bus line for these three to the ECU. I am going to try and isolate and repare without having to completely remove the entire engine harness for now.

 

Update:

Got everything confirmed bad harness. However could not locate the actual break in the line to repair it. So, it's gotta go. Time for another one. Here's the details of what I discovered.

These two pins should have continuity. From the crank to this connector and then back to the ECM. This is the section that doesn't communicate.



Thinking I would find the break closer to the CPS, I investigated a little more.




If it was at the CPS, it would be a very easy repair. But, failed to find the break in the line.



I'm guessing the line got stretched and now since removing that section of harness from the back of the block, there is now continuity between them. Not wanting to mess with finding it now, I'm going to removing the entire engine harness along with he injector harness and the coil harness. Replacing each with known, tested harnesses.



This is where she will sit for the next week. I don't know if I'll have much time this week to tinker or not. Waiting on some more parts to come in. So I am not in a rush.

 

Bummer about the harness but I'm glad you got it figured out

 

I tell you, if replacing that doesn't fix it. I'm gonna lose my marbles. But at this point I'm pretty confident this should fix the issues.

Honestly never considered it. And at the time I had a Pu trans with a bad case half with @Raider s bad internal good case

 

Before you rip out the harness jump from connector to connector with a new wire to see if it solves the problem. If it was me I would probably just run a whole new wire instead of replacing the whole harness

 

That would be the logical thing to do wouldn't it. Too late. Lol yeah @Raider and I already discussed that. I most definitely could have done that. But it's ok.

 

So, I wasn't going to say anything until I got these. I really was hoping to have the car running before I had to pull the manifold off again. But here we are.

Got some fantastic parts from @Matt@DM and let me tell you... If you don't have these types of parts. Buy them from Matt. The quality is absolutely top tier considering he's not a huge parts manufacturer. Anywho, enough slobbering... Let's get to it.



This PCV plate is just a gorgeous piece of art. Such a simple thing that has a massive job that most of us surely take for granted once its in. Goes hand and hand with the catch cans.


The water block on the other hand. Will most definitely clean up this area of the engine bay. But also fix a leak have. I discovered a few weeks back that the water block I have is cracked at the bottom and fuck the EGR anyway. I didn't want to source a stock one knowing this was now available. So here we are.


Stunning...



The catch cans are so simple yet get the job done with some great looks.


Matt, we've known each other a long time now. Great job dude. These are truly some amazing products. I can't wait to get them on and get this car running again.

 

Update:

It has been an extremely long week, didn't get any time to wrench but I did order a few parts and still waiting on some stuff

The new DW pump and filter made it, along with the FMW lock ring tool. If you don't have this tool. I highly recommend it. Truly worth every penny.





Also, I have been waiting on another new tool to show up that has been on back order for a long time. I don't know why this is such a difficult one to get. It's a pricey one, but much needed and even more on the wanted list, the "Milwaukee insider".

I hope this one explains itself. I was able to use this on every thing I did last night and made a YUGE difference.






I also picked up some hoses to replace some of the OE stuff with to have so I could route a new upper heater hose line which gets in the way of the intake. And a couple other lines.



Next I had to strip the tested harness off the bad motor from the other white parts car I got almost two years ago. This thing has a spun bearing sadly




And off we go. As I progressed I didn't take a s many pictures. I think I got a little too excited to fast and got caught up in the moment.







So as you all know, I the water manifold, PCV plate and OCC's from @Matt@DM. I am extremely impressed with all of them. But this water manifold is something else I never thought we would see. The amount of space that is saved in this area is almost un believable. And it looks fantastic.

I mean... Would you just look at it.





I also replaced this OE line with a longer hose to give more room around the turbo and intake



As well as this one for better routing of OCC lines.

That M12 Fuel ratchet is nice, saved me a TON of time stripping my long block.

Dude, after yesterday, that one tool, just replaced a dozen or more in my tool box. Mounting the front bracket with the dipstick, that tool made that a breeze. The bottom bolt on the PS pump CAKE! Well worth the money, it most def paid for itself in one night of wrenching.

BUY IT! Honestly, I was against these and I got the smaller 1/4 one a couple years ago and its been great, but it just doesn't have the reach, power nor is it slim enough to get into the tight places.

 

It's on the list... house projects first sadly. Wife is all excited for me to get Milwaukee stuff (currently have rigid) because then she gets a house drill

 

Yeah I'm super happy with it. I'm a bit of a Milwaukee tool whore and I have a bunch of M12 and M18 batteries so I just buy the bare tools at this point.

When I knew I was pulling the motor I used that as an "excuse" to buy it.

Oh and I saw you were doing push loc fittings, just looking at that picture makes my hands hurt!
