Both tests appear to be an improvement. Did you read the troubleshooting blog? It will help you understand how the system works. You still arent running up to about 1850psi and the drop in the second test is weird. You are on the right track, but the HPFP service could be next on your list. A rebuild kit isnt expensive, and will never be a waste of money.

    edit: what Cfold said.

Gonna pull pump first. Doubt internals have been upgraded already but hopefully I get lucky. But at minimum will rebuild it.

Well got my hopes up for a second, there was still a zip tie to keep nut from falling but unfortunately stock internals. My guess is they removed upgraded pump before selling or it was rebuilt at least once before.
Either way ordered rebuild kit and new Autotech internals.
Not sure if that is normal looking but looks dirty to me.

Excellent choice grabbing the Autotechs. And yes that is very dirty. Be sure to disassemble and clean the spill valve, some people skip it and have troubles later.

Now the fun part waiting for parts to arrive. Ordered from Graveyard Performance. Oddly was cheaper to order rebuild kit and upgrade to add pump internals then it was to buy pump internals and add rebuild kit. But hey I'm not complaining lol

Received order today but got wrong part by accident. Called up graveyard performance and he quickly apologized and advised he'll be expediting the HPFP.
So car will be down a smidge longer. I'm just hoping this resolves issue and not something more indepth. But 1 step at a time is all I can do. Just thought I'd post an update and not ghost like most people do once they fix their issue.

Well took WAYY longer then it should have to rebuild HPFP. The security torx bolts have probably never been removed in over 300,000+ miles. So the the seal at the pump looked newer but the others I'm sure have never been replaced. The filter in the pump with complete gone, only the brass fitting was still on there.

But it is done and I am tired as hell. Tomorrow I'll fire it but and check for leaks and pressure. Crossing my fingers that resolves the issue.

Well fuel pressure is no longer an issue but still missing and getting error code P0301. I'm curious if coil is getting signal or worse case is compression is bad. Warmed up and then check for pressure with key on engine off. So bright side is the fuel system is good now lol

Well... fixed it... in order to double check since mistakes happen, clearly this is a perfect example, unplugged #1 coil to make sure no corrosion in the connections. Fire up car and it's still missing so I get out to unplug coil to see if idle changes... well it was still unplugged since I had just checked for the corrison 2 minutes earlier. I plugged it in and still no change in idle. Turned the car off and thought well I'll go old school and ground plug to see visually if any spark. Put a new unused plug, leaving current spark plug in the cylinder, and ground it and nada. Grab one of the old coils and test and it got spark. Rechecked the new one and still nada. Put the old coil in and fire up car it's is idling fine. Take for test drive and that was the smoothest it ever ran.

My guess is when I first swapped the coil on #1 and #2 I put them in the same spot and didn't actually switch them giving me inaccurate info. Even though they are new this is the reason I usually keep the old parts like this that still work. Never hurts to have a spare.

Bright side is this error caused me to find the fuel issue and address it before it became an issue later from lack of fuel. Go go all zoom zoom boom.

Again thank you for all the info and and feedback!! Gonna drive it for a bit before I start messing with tunes to make sure this is not just a gremlin hibernating.

Just so strange that the #1 coil went bad and the new one in the same cylinder went bad. Don't know if there is afterlife or not but if there is maybe it's just my son's saying "hey your not done yet, don't kill my car."

Glad you were able to get it solved, if this one dies in the same cylinder again it's worth checking your harness for breaks as shorts could certainly cause damage to the coil packs

Good to correct something that was going to cause you a great deal of hurt down the road.
What are your goals for tuning? Depending on what you want to reach, with the miles on the car and unknown on the engine you might consider some of the following...(Suggested by Will @ PD tuning in his educational videos ;))
Compression and Leakdown to check the health of the engine.
Clean the valves (walnut blasting), replace PCV, purge valve & fuel tank sock. Consider OEM coils if you havent got them already.
If you plan to add a healthy dose of extra horsepower or are looking to upgrade the turbo, an injector cleaning and some seals from Overland or Corksport would be valuable, especially considering what you saw in your pump is in your fuel rail & injectors too.
Keep us posted of your progress!!

To get my feet wet just going to use the pre loaded versa tunes. Down the read will Maybe try my hand at it or use a versa-tuner which is more likely. But for now really just want to enjoy the car. Maybe one day I'll think about going full send and trying to squeeze all the performance out of it. But that won't be any time soon.

But yes agreed will need to make sure it can take it before Turing it up.

Well think this maybe the issue. Car was running fine, no issues or hesitation and then back to missing. Haven't tried another coil yet but I think a where's Waldo of following wires is in my near future... yay...
