I chose Stratified because I found that Lex always had some very good info to share in the forums. I also liked the idea of consistent performance all year round that a load based tune offers. Everyone in DFW had Freektune and forum chatter seemed to indicate he was getting overloaded with providing tunes for a lot of people, so I thought I'd try a different tuner for a change. Lastly, a flash tune was bundled with the purchase of the Cobb AP from Stratified.

Yeah, I'm not sure, but I think Justin is still doing it all himself. He had some help for a while, but things fell through. Lex, on the other hand, has several other tuners at Stratified. I've also personally found them very helpful in general, and especially when T/S my methanol kit (I bought the Cooling Mist kit and my Synapse DV through them, besides my Guardian Angel).

I'm just getting started on my tune with Justin; submitted base map logs early/mid- last week and just got my first revision back this afternoon, so it does seem like he might be backed up by a day or two at the moment. Can't wait to get out of work so I can flash the new map and go for a drive!

Also ordered the DM EGR delete kit over lunch. Already had Justin disable the codes with my base map and am currently running with EGR unplugged, so now I'll be able to rip the whole thing out altogether.

I mean, you can try. I guess dreaming isn't illegal yet.

Just bring your ride on by and we can battle it our for a while. Granted, you may never go back to CO because you'll be shackled up in my basement but that is neither here nor there at the moment.

Changed my transmission fluid with some Amsoil. Man oh man what a difference that made. I love the shifting now.

Wanted to try some motorcraft but also heard very good reviews on some Amsoil so I gave this one a try and so far no regrets!

I gave it a shot. It's actually in my tranny now. Honestly, I was a little underwhelmed. And technically it's not the exact viscosity called for in Pu trannies, but IS the right one for Won trannies, IIRC.

My old fluid looked pristine and prolly didn't need changed. I get a little grind if I go into 2nd too quickly on cold days. I was hoping the FoMoCo would address this. Sadly, it didn't...

Maybe @silvapain can feel my pain? Still recommend running 1/3 a bottle of the Ford XL3 friction modifier to smooth out my synchros? Does it matter whether Genwon or Genpu??

Nothing will fix that problem. It's a Mazdaspeed transmission thing. I haven't tried the XT-M5-QS but the MTL seems to address cold shifting pretty well.

Well I ninja edited (above), but apparently Silvapain says XL3 friction modifier will address the syncro issue.

I run redline (Genpu) personally and it solved my cold shifting problems, seems to run very similarly to my mates Genwon with Ford stuff at least in summer, he won't be driving it in winters in Canada anymore do can't compare. But he's had no issues at all since he switched to Ford. I still get some 2-3 but hey that's part of the tranny

Red line works awesome in my pu. Only issue is the lsd is louder than stock fluid, but shifting in all weather is better, I've been swapping out every 25k since it's relatively cheap. No trans probs thus far.

Same experience, LSD will groan a lot after the redline is about 10-15k miles old.

I tried the friction modifier once in combination with the MTL and the car was nearly undriveable in the cold (didn't want to go into any gear until warmed up)...ended up finding some post on Mazdas247 or some other forum where a guy from redline said to not exceed 1% v/v of friction modifier...sure enough I had added about 1.3% or so. Ended up draining and filling with straight MTL and now it's back to shifting just fine.

Yeah, Pu's and Won's have different viscosity recommendations, IIRC (like I said above). We'll see if Silvapain chimes in. I'm thinking he was talking about a Won.

There's plenty of guys that still run Ford in gen2, no different than putting rotella 5w40 in our engine, and that's done routinely

The Ford stuff bothers me though as it may not be 100 percent safe for our synchros so I'm worried about long term issues with it.

I have a gen 1 and have run the Ford juice for 6 years, only issue is great shifting, especially on cold mornings.
