Forgot to update. I joined the RPF1 gang a while back. Here it is SBC RPF1 17x9 +45 with 5mm spacers in the front. On Swift springs and stock struts.

Personally I'd go gold or black wheels with Crystal White Pearl paint.

One of the benefits of owning a white car is that it looks good with almost any wheel color, especially bronze and gold. I would say get gold or hyper black rota grids.

If you like the design and the price is right, buy and just plastidip them. Or powdercoat if you're a Johnny Deep-Pockets, haha.

I have 245/45r17 front and back with a Hoosier DOT drag radial in the front and a summer tire in the rear. The fronts are definitely a little beefier than the rears even though they're the same size.

these are a lil rough right now. This one is the best of the bunch. I think they'll be lookin good in the end. Not 100% sure on the restoration plan yet. I'll figure it out as I go.

18x8.5 +47 Work Emotion Kiwami. 21.8 lbs on my bathroom scale.

also picked up these work lugs from a fellow mazdaspeed bro, but they aren't here yet. I think the blue lugs will look good on white.

I got a screamin deal on the wheels (and lugs) so I couldn't say no.

now I just gotta figure out what tires to wrap them in. I was thinking 235/40/18. However, most of the 235's seem to have an XL load rating, and I'm not sure if that's a negative or not. Leaning towards PSS's specifically. After my first set of Michelin's on my motorcycle, that's the only brand I've used on it. I've used cup racing tires, "sport touring" tires (equivalent of all seasons) and "sport tires" (like a max performance summer). From my experience mounting and balancing as a job, the Michelins were always the easiest to slip on the rim, and were always the best balanced. They lasted the longest in their class on the bike, and I liked how they felt. I would expect similar results from their car tires, so that's why I'm leaning towards those.

Ah, I've always loved those wheels. Also, I like the PSS for sure. They make it in a 245/40/18 as well if you want the extra rubber. I love how a 245 looks on a 8.5" wheel, and you have a good offset on those wheels where you can make it work with a little extra effort.

235/40 is a better size for an 8.5" wheel, IMO.

The Michelin PSS in that size has a tread width that matches the wheel width.

Does the XL load rating matter?
