Engine won’t turn over after driving 10-15 mins

Last night, I stopped at shell to get gas. Car was cold started and driven for about 15 mins after sitting for 8 hours and had been at operating temp for about 5 or so minutes. Filled up a full tank, next thing you know I go to start my speed and it won’t crank over, nothing. I heard the starter relay click. Had my friend bring some battery cables and we tried to jump it, still wouldn’t start. All the accessories (heat, lights) all worked but car wouldn’t crank over. I ended up having to pop the clutch and push start it. This morning it started right up just fine, went to advance auto to test the battery. Cold cranking amps were good and the battery tested good. So the battery isn’t the issue. This was after driving 5 minutes and it started fine again. I’m assuming either my starter is starting to go out or the connection to the starter is bad? Anyone ever had a similar issue with their speeds? I never heard or seen a speed owner having a starter issue at 121k miles. If you can give me any advice, experience, knowledge or help, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

 

Check The connections to the starter particularly the ground, actually quite common that it gets corroded or loose.

 

Thank you for the tips man. I figured it was related to starter. I will check the connections to the starter especially the ground, tomorrow morning. I’ll keep ya updated.

 

good luck, starter could be on it's way out though if connections are good that's that'd be my guess

 

Verify the mechanical side by seeing if starter motor will work with the minimum things needed to get it to rotate.
Removal of the small wire (red circled) is the starter solenoid low current side. If you PULL OFF the wire connector on that terminal where it is attached to starter solenoid. At that terminal (empty of the wire of course) connected to +12 battery with a jumper it will turn over the
motor just like normal. NO KEY ON, just try that first to see if mechanical side the starter is good. If fine then it is the electrical side back to the key. I got these manuals on-line check the forum links to manual too.

 

Take a hammer and slightly tap the starter. Sometimes the brushes will have carbon residue and not make contact.

 

You should check the ground as @Cfoldone mentioned, this stopped my car from starting forever. It is very common to be corroded.

Other than that, everyone's favorite ground, check the ground on the bracket next to HPFP.
